South-East Asia
BTBAB has visited many nations in South-East Asia and we are excited to be going back! For the details of which nation we are going to, please contact us via – info@btbab.org
Location Southeast Asia consists of eleven countries that reach from eastern India to China, and is generally divided into “mainland” and “island” zones. The mainland (Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam) is actually an extension of the Asian continent. Island or maritime Southeast Asia includes Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, and the new nation of East Timor (formerly part of Indonesia).
Climate
South-East Asia can best be described as tropical and humid across most of the countries for the majority of the year. Between November and May the weather is mostly dry, and from May to November it is dominated by the southwest monsoon.
Religion The area we are going to is mainly Buddhist and the influence of this religion casts a strong influence on daily life. Senior monks are highly revered. Thus, in towns and villages, the temples are at the heart of social and religious life. Meditation, one of the most popular aspects of Buddhism, is practiced regularly by numerous locals.
As an organisation we have been to Asia on many occasions, so we have contacts in the nation we are going to and we will announce our hosts at our second training weekend. This will be a radically life-changing experience for anyone who hears and responds to the call. Will you join us? Can you give just 2 – 3 weeks of your life to help reshape the history of a people by fulfilling the call to reach all nations, tribes and tongues with the love of Christ?
You must be:
If you have met the first 4 conditions above, please send us a completed application form along with a £50 admin fee. Once we have received these, we will apply for a character reference from your church minister or a Christian leader.
Please note that all money you start investing from the 1st training day is non-refundable (including flight fares).
During your mission preparation, you will be required to attend two mandatory training weekends. Each training weekend includes prayer & worship; teaching/practical workshops & administration. These sessions are an extremely invaluable time of intimacy with God, and are crucial in working together as a team.
As we are a Christian organisation with Christian ethics, please note that we reserve the right to refuse your application or remove you from the team at any time if we feel your conduct of life does not meet the minimum required for a Christian (this includes any behaviour that puts the rest of the team at risk). An email and telephone number of a member of our Board of Trustees will be available to team members who require confidential support during their preparations for the trip.
Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months at the time of returning home.
Please DO NOT make any flight bookings until after the first training weekend and your team leader has approved them. However, you will be required to purchase your ticket in full 2 months before the trip at the latest.
It is essential that you obtain your own insurance: either a one-year insurance, or simply a return trip insurance.
Please check that your vaccinations are up to date prior to your trip abroad by contacting your GP surgery for more information or go to fitfortravel.nhs.uk
The Mission Team will meet regularly to make preparations and equip ourselves. You will need be able to attend both training weekends: the first being 12th – 14th May and the second from 16th – 18th June 2023. You may also be required to attend workshops relating to your ministry area.
In addition to this application form you will be required to complete a confidential medical questionnaire declaring all medical conditions that you suffer from and current medication that you are taking.
BTBAB own the rights to any media footage (photograph and video) taken on behalf of BTBAB during the entire trip.
On this trip you are part of a team and so as an organisation we have to do our best to protect individual team’s private information. Therefore restrictions are in place as to what you can put on public media such as Facebook (especially photos and videos you have acquired whilst you were away).
The cost of the mission is estimated to be approx £1850 per person (estimate includes training, flight & living expenses). However, cost may vary depending on flight prices at the time of booking. You are welcome to pay in instalments anytime prior to your trip but you are at the least required to purchase your flight ticket prior to the 2nd training weekend. In addition, BTBAB will not allow you at the training weekends if your training costs for that weekend have not cleared through their system.
As a member of the team you are responsible for this cost and any funds raised by the team prior to the trip will be in order to facilitate the work we do in the country and not our individual costs.
NB. Members of the team are not permitted to make independent travel arrangements and must travel as part of the Mission Group.
Due to rising flight costs we strongly recommend that you process your application as soon as possible…BUT please do not make any flight bookings until you have permission from your team leader to do so. We will receive applications up until the first official training weekend in May, as specified by the team leader).
We are a faith-based organisation (that means we are totally dependent on God for the finances for the work we do). As a result, we have very high standard of financial accountability for the funds God provides us. So, we would like to inform you in advance that all money you give or invest is entirely non-refundable (including flight fares).
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the necessary travel insurance for this trip. If you choose not to arrange travel insurance you will be responsible for any additional costs that you face as a result of this.
