In October we launched the new initiative teaching life skills to young adults in Merseyside. With the help of 4 fantastic mentors, we were able to deliver some excellent practical training including car maintenance, cooking on a shoestring, how to write a CV and how to manage your finances.

For each session we introduced them to the work of BTBAB and then interviewed the mentors to discover how they became a Christian and how they ended up working in their field of work. I felt it was important for the young adults to realise that there isn’t always a clear direction towards our work, but we often have to try out different things before we find the place we belong.

We had some great feedback including one student who said ‘I need another life skills course – it was amazing!’ I am now looking to develop this further by adding new topics and also introducing it to school leavers before they go to university.

My desire is to have more young people on this course and for everyone regardless of their income, to be able to come on the course. It costs £50 to fund one student on the Life Skills Course, so if you would like to sponsor a student, please go to our website – BTBAB – Gap Year Internship | Stewardship
