COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION

Our Overseas Community Transformation initiative supports local communities in the developing world to help bring about radical transformation in people’s lives and that of the community they live in.

Through practical projects, the aim is to bring communities out of the hopelessness of poverty and experience the heart felt love of God.

Focusing on a whole community – a town, village or a province, is a big challenge, but it is also a wonderful privilege to see how God impacts an entire community.

Where possible we work alongside the local church, but all members of the community will benefit, regardless of religion or belief system. The OCT projects help bridge the gap that can exist between the local church and the community – God’s love is extended to believer and non-believer alike.

THE BIBLICAL CONTEXT

When Jesus said, “I have come to give you life and life in all its abundance”, He did not just intend this abundance to be for the developed world but should apply to everyone regardless of where they live. While the primary emphasis of this scripture is spiritual, in that Jesus gives us eternal life in fellowship with our Father in Heaven, the impact of this life effects our whole being – spirit, soul and body. The context in which we live this out is the local community and through the life of the local church.

So our OCT projects are a practical application of this scripture, seeing the gospel transforms people’s lives and the communities in which they live.

OUR CURRENT PROJECT

We are currently in the second stage of a four stage process of considering taking on a project in Ethiopia, to help the people in the village of Wonja Shoa.

In February 2020, a team of ordinary people went on a 2 week mission with BTBAB to the nation of Ethiopia. It was the third time we sent a team but again the team has returned saying there is more we can do to help the people.
