After a busy summer travelling, I spent the last few months focusing on my work in Liverpool. At the beginning of October I ran the second life skills course at a local church, the first session was on DIY & cooking on a budget. My dad came to Liverpool especially to teach the DIY session and the attendees seem to enjoy it. Unfortunately due to a number of issues including a personal issue with one of the mentors, I had to cancel the second session. I am looking at ways I can develop this project further.
Otherwise much of my focus has been on the work with refugees via my connections at the Toxteth Women’s Centre (TWC). As well as my teaching, I have been putting the BTBAB vehicle to good use. ‘The tank’ as I affectionately call it, has been used to transport furniture for TWC, help rehome a lady fleeing domestic abuse and deliver baby equipment for a lady due to give birth. I have also been assisting with administration one extra morning a week to cover for the administrator who is off sick.
As well as this I have done a number of home visits to my middle eastern ladies including a Christian lady who lived in the Arab world for 18 years and speaks Arabic. She is planning to move to the Toxteth area where I live and wanted to make connections with ladies here. As well as the home visits, we are planning a Christmas party at my flat.
My work with the young adults at church is going well. We had a student lunch in September for all the returning students and the homegroup has 8 people attending regularly. I also had a social at my flat in November and we managed to squeeze 14 people in my front room! When I look back to the time when I first came to Liverpool 3 years ago, I can see the hand of God moving so clearly in opening doors of opportunity! Praise God!
