In April 2011 the first mission to Niger included members who had never been to Africa before and others who had never previously gone on mission. Despite the fact that some may have doubted what they could bring to a country with such needs, all went with a willing and obedient heart. The temperature in the day was as high as 49 degrees and at night only a mere 38 degrees.
But the team pushed past the challenges and the following was the result:
£10,000 was donated – the largest in our history to date
Six people received to Jesus (including a local policeman who was thought to be a radical Islamist)
Over 250 people received free medical care (including eight year old Marie who would have lost her thumb to an infection, and a three year old boy who fell into a pot of boiling water)
The trip would later set the stage for the 2012 OCT initiative which has brought in over £24,000 to construct a school for 250 kids in Kwaara Tegri. Find out more in our OCT section.
