Sewing Project

After leaving Malawi, we have remained in touch with the friends we made while serving in Mouna. The girls from New Life Secondary School are pictured above, along with the wonderful woman we provided with a starter kit for making sanitary towels. From the £100 sterling we left, she purchased a sewing machine and now teaches young girls at the school valuable sewing skills. When we first met Margaret, she was a single mother from Mouna with limited income. Today, she is employed at New Life Secondary School, where she teaches sewing skills, empowering young girls in the process. The production of sanitary towels promotes healthy hygiene, enabling girls to attend school during menstruation.

Goat Project

Many young girls are often unable to continue their education after secondary school due to financial pressures. These pressures force them into labour to repay the significant debts their families incurred during their schooling years. As a result, girls marry young and become mothers. The Live Goat Project aims to change this by providing girls with the means to repay their parents, allowing them to continue their education. Since departing Mouna, the committee has utilized the remaining project funds to acquire land, commence construction of a goat house, and implement a programme that tracks goats to their owners.

Prayer points:

  • Protection from weather-related shocks frequently affecting the Mouna region.
  • Awareness among the girls about the crucial role of education in overcoming their complex challenges.
  • Support and resilience for the people of Malawi facing numerous survival needs.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
