We have been keeping in touch with Emihle and continue to build relationship with her. She took her final school exams at the end of 2021 and sadly the results did not afford her a place at one of the universities. However, she did not sit around doing nothing, she used her initiative and signed up for a course at the local college called False Bay College in Khayelitsha. It is only 2 km from her home and travelling will be much easier for her. The three-year course is a National Certificate Vocational in Information Technology and Computer Science. It covers Maths, Electronics, English, Introduction to Information Systems, Introduction to Systems Development, Multimedia Basics and Life Skills and Computer Literacy.

During a Zoom meeting with her and Lunga, we had a serious talk about studying and encouraged her to keep going.  We shared the verse from Philippians 3:13-14 “but I focus on this one thing, forgetting the past, look forward to what lies ahead and press on to the end of the race”.  We confirmed that we would continue to sponsor her, but emphasised that she needs to be committed to her studies in order to achieve her dreams.  We reminded her that she is a child of God and much loved.  Her dreams are still connected in bringing something back to the community where she’s grown up.

We thank you for your faithful on-going support of Emihle as the current ACI student and ask that you continue to pray for her that life at home will be more settled; that she’ll be able to focus on her studies; be successful in her exams and that she’ll truly know that she is a child of God. We’re still praying for a godly mother figure to be part of her life. Thank you.
