“Invest in a child’s future, sow into God’s kingdom.”
Lo Thaiyai – Thailand:
Lo continues to thrive at university, partaking in many activities to the glory of God. Over the last six months he’s been involved in officiating sports competitions, participating in sports events, and various other activities. However, as he testifies, he has not neglected his studies. He has continued to keep up with assignments and submit his work consistently.
At the end of the last semester, he was elected to serve as the President of the Physical Education Student Council for the upcoming academic year. This year will be very busy with many responsibilities at the university and he would appreciate your prayers for him.
Here are some of his accomplishments: In October, we organised basketball competitions and served as referees as part of the Physical Education program.
In November, he received an award in a running competition. Then from November to December, he completed a three-week teaching practicum at a school, gaining significant experience working with students and school staff.
On top of all that, he also represented his university in a regional running competition among Rajabhat Universities in the Northern region of Thailand and also in other national level competitions in running and orienteering. The following awards were his too, 4th place in half marathon, 2nd place in 10K race in Chiangrai.
It’s not all practical experience, he spends time in training programmes on activity management and event organisation, which is then put into practice by playing a key leadership role in organising events. These activities provide valuable learning opportunities and personal growth.
He is also part of a training program focused on developing a written language system for his people group, the Mork language, which previously did not have a written script. A missionary with a heart to serve his community initiated this effort to help create a written form of the language.
I don’t know about you, but when I read of all that Lo is achieving at university, it makes my heart sing to know that we have such a privilege in getting to be a part of his story, by sponsoring him through university and supporting him with a subsistence allowance. Why don’t you prayerfully consider joining us in supporting him too?
Bahle Jacobs – South Africa:
We are delighted to announce that we have onboarded a second student for sponsorship through his university course. Bahle is 22 years old living in Khayelitscha, with his 64 year old father. He belongs to the Good News Community Church, and volunteers at the Lighthouse Foundation as a mentor and Youth leader.
Bahle is studying to become a teacher at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and is doing well at university, passing all 16 subjects and achieving 7 passes with distinction. We were able to pay off his outstanding fees from 2024, which will enable him to graduate. We are supporting his accommodation and educational expenses.
I would ask you to consider joining us in sponsoring these young people by making a monthly donation of £10 or more if you’re able. You know, every child deserves the chance to dream beyond poverty. By sponsoring a young person’s education, you’re not just covering school fees—you’re opening doors to opportunity, dignity, and hope. Your support breaks cycles of hardship and plants seeds of transformation that ripple through families, communities, and even nations. Together, we can lift lives and ignite futures through the simple, powerful gift of education.
