In November 2009 a team of seven from four different churches travelled to the Philippines to serve in both inner cities as well as rural areas. During the trip, the team had the privilege of working with the Mangyan tribe – a tribe that lives in the mountains with very severely limited access to any form of welfare. During the trip the team served in the local schools, youth groups, prisons as well as participate in medical clinics and larger medical campaigns in the area.

The Mangyan people are extremely friendly and warned up to the team quickly and this enabled them to share the gospel which led to 7 people coming to Jesus.

During the trip, over 200 people received free medical care (including medicines, reading glasses for the elderly as well as vitamin supplements for sick children). During these daily clinics the team also enjoyed entertaining and ministering to over 100 kids through dance, drama and other fun activities.

Though our “Raise the Roof” appeal, we received over £4,000 in donations from the UK and this money provided scholarships for the education of 8 school children from poor families as well as building bamboo houses for 7 families who were homeless and living in extreme poverty. Also, through these donations, the Mangyan people got a brand new bamboo house church in the mountains!.
